Getting Here

Isle of Mull

The main car ferry comes to Mull from Oban which is itself around three hours drive from Edinburgh or two and a half hours from Glasgow.   If you are coming from Skye, Mallaig, Glencoe, Fort William, Inverness and the north, another popular route is to take the smaller ferry from Lochaline on Morvern to Fishnish.  A third ferry runs between Tobermory and Kilchoan, on the Ardnamurchan peninsula.

The MV Isle of Mull, pictured leaving Oban Harbour.  The journey to Craignure takes 40 minutes.  Reservations should be made for vehicles by phone or online (see link above). You must be at the pier at least 30 minutes before departure.   The route to the ferry terminal is well sign-posted from Oban town centre.

There are no reservations required on the smaller ferries from Lochaline or Kilchoan.  The Lochaline ferry runs every hour or so in summer, but less often in winter.
