Druimnacroish

We can recommend a range of great days out from Druimnacroish — taking into account your interests, the weather and how adventurous you’re feeling.

On Ben More

Some favourite all–day walks include the Treshnish headland (low level) and Ben More (966m of ascent). There are a number of shorter walks and beaches to visit within easy reach. The island has a mix of designated paths and wild walking. Neil & Margriet are always available to advise and to lend maps and books for the day and, in the unlikely (!) event of wet weather, will help dry out your boots when you get home.

Puffins on Lunga

Trips to Staffa and the Treshnish Isles run from Ulva Ferry; Fingals Cave and the nesting puffins are a great attraction. We've lost count of the guests who come back from a day on one of these trips saying "That was one of the best days of my life".

The island's wildlife is a major attraction. These islands are sparsely populated and present a rare and unspoilt habitat. There is perhaps the highest density of eagles in Europe, but the other wildlife should not be underestimated including many fine raptors, waders and sea birds, whales, dolphins, common and grey seals, deer, otters and mountain hare. We can offer advice and experts run guided trips (see Links page for details).

The Isle of Ulva is well worth a day out, with good walking and excellent fresh shellfish in the tearoom.

Duart Castle

Make sure you take a full day to go to Iona, giving yourself enough time to see more than just the Abbey, and come back by the scenic route round the sea lochs on Mull's west coast.

Bring your Bike (or hire one). A fair few hills, but a great way to get around, on old roads and forest tracks.

Follow Me

On a rare rainy day, visit Duart and Torosay Castles and take a dip in the community funded Swimming Pool and Spa at Craignure. The arts centre "An Tobar" in Tobermory and The Old Byre heritage centre near Dervaig are also well covered...
